It’s the last week of winter break, then it’s back to school for one more semester! I have been trying to make the most of break by sleeping in, spending time with my cat, testing out new dishes in the kitchen, and being crafty. My latest project, which I started last night, is this infinity scarf:
This bulky yarn not only makes the crocheting go really fast, it makes it a lot harder to mess up if you’re a beginner, like me. I found a great tutorial for this scarf on Julie Figueroa’s youtube page here. Looks like she has a bunch more fun crafty projects on her blog, too, so check it out.
So far, I’ve used two skeins of Lion Brand Hometown USA yarn in San Diego Navy, and I need to go get two more skeins, I think, to finish it. Why do craft stores close so early on Sundays?! Now I have to wait until tomorrow before I can keep crocheting. I followed Julie’s instructions and the length of the scarf is a little over 60”, and I’m aiming for a width of about 10”. If you are brand new to crocheting, I found this website helpful for getting started: doing a slip knot, starting a chain, adding a new skein, etc. If you prefer video tutorials, I’ve found the Knit Witch’s knitting videos to be extremely easy to follow – I’m guessing her crochet videos are the same way.
What have you been crafting lately? Any ideas for other good crochet projects for beginners?

awesome!! thanks for sharing!!!
Oh brilliant another wool junkie! I love to kit, need more crochet practice! I knitted the cutest flowers last night, will be doing a how to blog on the later!
We should trade lessons, haha! I have trouble with knitting (actually, I only tried a few times and gave up), but crocheting is much easier for me!
